We Have A Winner!

James S. has beaten Approaching Infinity!

SOMEBODY WON APPROACHING INFINITY

He is the first person in history that I know of to play through an entire game to the end. “What End?!”, you say! This game is supposed to be infinite, right? Well, That’s the beauty of it. You can play for as long as you want, there will always be more *stuff*. But you can also pursue many different avenues to victory!

What’s an “Amulet of Yendor”, and where can I get one? Well, make it out to sector 20, and start searching planets. You’ll find it eventually. Maybe you won’t pick it up right away, but you won’t be able to resist forever. But that doesn’t grant you victory right away…If you know anything about roguelikes, you know what you’ve got to do…I know this is a bit silly, but I needed an easy-to-implement victory condition for the beta, and this seemed pretty obvious to me 🙂

So congratulations, James! And hey, I would still love to see other peoples’ victory posts. I eventually want to have a central place where people can come and post these.

What sort of a prize do you think James deserves?

  1. Does the entire universe declare war on you when you pick up the Amulet?
I wanted to explore a bit more, but suddenly everyone was shooting at me…

      Yep!
Everyone except the Bankers, so you can still stop at space stations to pick up supplies when you need to.
It also stops “On-going spawns”, so that once you kill all the baddies in one sector, they won’t come back.
      But it’s pretty difficult regardless.
